Golden Dragon Rider
June 8, 2007
Over the mountains so far away
Dragons and riders are there at play
Dipping and Diving and soaring high
There goes another one flying by
Here on the hot searing sands I stand
Watching a clutch that surprised the land
My Golden Dragon was young to fly
She chose a Bronze that was passing by
Now we are sharing a loft for two
He won’t go riding for eggs are due
M’gan is his name and we’re both so young
The older riders just held their tongues
Morgan and I had been raised to fly
We’d lived in caverns, some way up high
Baby dragons on burning sand
Chose us as riders who’d always stand
Morgan was chosen, a bronze had he
The other children sighed tenderly
M’gan, his name, the dragon Landry
The rest of us stood there in a great quandary
Eggs were hatching all over the place
Smiles were lighting up face to face
I stood near to a gold colored egg
When I felt something just touch my leg
I looked in her eyes and she said to me
We’ve waited so long for us to be free
That’s how this tale starts before right now
I didn’t think we’d have babies somehow
M’gan and I flew out every day
We’d go to where other dragons play
We’d fly to places we’d never seen
That we had learned from the mother Queen
She’d tell us about all the beautiful spots
Where to get cold and where it was hot
We’d fly to places we’d like to go
Sometimes we’d fly where they had some snow
One day we were flying just side by side
Our dragons preened and they flew with pride
Then we a lit on the shore to swim
I don’t really know just what happened then
Our dragons were flying and dancing aglow
We felt their emotions, and ours too you know
We were together in mind and soul
Our two dragons were making us whole
We chose a place that was near the shore
High in the cliffs, so we could see more
People came to us and joined with us there
We were never a lonely pair
Hum, a thrumming is filling the cave
Dragons are bringing youngsters to save
The eggs are rocking upon the sand
People are getting raw food on hand
Oooh, one’s cracked, there’s a whirling eye
Impressions are happening by and by
Some of the youngsters just run away
They don’t see that the others play
“Emma,” M’gan said, “the time is right
You have golden eggs ready this night
A blue, a green and a red I see
A brown, two bronzes now are free”
“A golden one’s hatching, she crying so
There is a young girl who wants to know
What should she do when she cries so hard?”
“Feed her and lead her into the yard”
Another Gold one is hatching now
A child is holding her muzzle somehow
She thinks that someone’s forgotten to be
Right there beside her this hatching to see
The Gold is gazing now eye to eye
Impressions are happening as night goes by
Here, take this bowl of meat for her
She’s hungry and you’re her new rider
Emma and M’gan watched in delight
Oola and Landry were proud this night
They would watch as impressions went right
Emma and M’gan walked out of sight
They said we’re two young, and I do agree
But we have hatchlings out by the sea
Riders are scrubbing them, feeding them too
So I guess that we both have proved
We’re just right in this land we’ve chose
Emma, here is a young wild rose
It reminds me of you and me
How the two of us grew up free
