Forevermore (A Petrarchan Sonnet)

When last I left my heart enthralled by you
I knew my care had not been placed in vain
that we would surely rise to meet again
to fill our hearts with love that only two
could solely bring heart bliss in all we do,
and of it all we two would then sustain.
Yet I to you do sing of this refrain
in afterglow as we bid fond adieu.

Remember me where peaceful waters flow
in trickling rivers as they calm cascade
to hear our plea where love sings in our core
my heart to yours in oneness I bestow
so never shall yours ever feel betrayed
and always will it love forevermore.

Thank you so much. I think the only way to read a sonnet is aloud. I am so pleased you enjoyed this one. Thank you again. ~Pamela

    Very nice ...

but I'd change "trickle" to "trickling". Otherwise, it's about perfect in my opinion.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I was first introduced to the Italian Sonnet by a fellow AP Writer Eusebius. He has a knack for them where I truly do struggle. I was pleased with the end result for this one and am truly pleased for your comment here. Thank you. ~Pamela

Old world essence permeates these romantic lines with such a sense of sadness in the plea to remember. I recall saying goodbye when I was 16 with similar feelings settling like mist over me. Echoes....
    Sometimes, forever.

I am wistful about such lovely sonnets as this...rue my inability to conform to the pattern and maintain the music. Beautifully done!

    Oooooooooooooohhhhhhhh!!!!!

Pam, This is a lovely Italian Sonnet that you penned for the Battle Of Sonnets. Forevermore will these words be imprinted along with the imagery that floated through my mind's eye. SIGHING You left me breathless as usual and this time you almost left me speechless. I did say almost. LOL Your rhythm and rhyme are perfect and the elegant verbiage flowed from the page straight to my heart. When two hearts become one they find that forevermore you just shared with us. Best wishes in the contest, this sounds golden. Love you my friend, Joyce

I give you credit for this one, excellent job! I have attempted the sonnet a couple of times and always fail miserably, so I know how difficult they can be, you made this look so easy, just a wonderful job!
