Hope lies within

Hope lies buried
somewhere
beneath your love
and the memory of his cruelty.
Trapped
between layers of bitterness
and comfort.
Drifting, amid waves
of pain and compassion.
Crafted
by fists of hate and
hands that constantly surprise.
Hands, that don't play with my
emotions, that never put me down
and don't tear my heart to shreds,
yet hope
still lies buried.

I liked this one. Struck a chord with me because I currently help those that have to deal with this type of abuse. Thank you for expressing the pain/suffering in such a poignant way.

A fantastic display of the vast difference and the comparisons between the two situations my sweet!
Really natural piece of writing, which is a pleasant suprise seen as some work bank poems can seem a little too contrived. You certainly didn't make it seem that way!
So pleased you are out of the terrible situation you were in - you so deserve to be treated like gold - you are a true gem!

A word bank prompted this truthful heart breaking. Me thinks it was there all along looking for an avenue out. Beautifully sad Claire

I think you are right, all I needed was a push in the right direction to finally get it off my chest. When I look back then and and then at life today, things could not be mroe different and I wanted to reflect this in a poem so this wordbank seemed to fit perfectly.

A very compelling write of a wordbank, can feel the sadness in the words and indeed in a situation like this hope is something you must hold on to Love, C
