[ She Said to Self ]
after steam wiped from glass,
image slightly distorted
from what she perceived self
to be
and what ears listened to
when words escaped loose lips;
left dents in Dreams,
hole in ground to fall, face first
into puddle of perception.
Spectators observed,
chuckled loudly after accident
but in heat of that moment
forgetting
they made similar mistakes.
Perfection practiced till exhaustion
waved white flag
yet not reachable in reality
for nobody on Earth embodies
that mold.
[ She Said to Self with Validity ]
in front of full length pillar
which cast harsh criticism
many times
once cloth pieces fell to floor
or pounds gained;
clothes no longer fit.
How the physical changes
on the outside
did not determine
who she was on the inside.
She set Mind to strip the negatives
from vocabulary so voice,
verbal and or physical
had representive come through
with Dignity next to Self- Love;
Loud enough for everybody to hear-
Her feet felt pressure to stomp
instead stood on tip of toes
gracefully as she carried herself
across the floor, smile of accomplishment
to Light naturally the entire room.
Eyes widened, shoulders adjusted
with Confidence on her team
while worthless sat on the sidelines;
not to be played again.
Finally, she became somebody
where consciously, thoughts said:
there was nobody.
Higher Powers provided the near perfect branch-
so the caterpillar that wanted to emerge
from her self-made cocoon
became a priceless butterfly.
