Hmm, just noticed that you are still in the reward section with this, while the contest itself is in the final round, where the entrants are picked from the previous rounds, who all got a notification of it

Maybe you can stop this reward to save some points, seeing that you're giving away bunches already

Anywho, just wanted to let you know

Mise au Point for the record

I have reluctantly withdrawn from the final round of the RC in part for reasons I prefer to withhold from the public domain, and in part from the sentiment that 'Genius in the spoken word' stimulates the same reflections as could 'genius in numbers' ... Words like numbers and colours are simply metalinguistic communication vectors and, as such, neutral.

Response or reaction to words is not neutral and depends not only upon the mother tongue of the reader but also upon many levels of personal perception associations from cultural references to the chromatic context in which the written word is formatted. This highlights difficulties encountered with most translations.

The responsibility of the poet is to faithfully open a timeless bandwidth wavelength between him/herself and the reader's unique perception of perception of perception at a given moment in time and within a given chronological context. Where the poetic prism filters through the mind's defenses the 'poetic' as opposed to 'prose' or 'prosaic' quality of the meeting of minds should render the poem timeless.

This wavelength tunes into, or should tune, into individual's innate pattern recognition - which itself is tempered by a complicated waft and weft of interwoven personal references - frequently combined with or influenced by the search for or rejection of harmony. By 'faithfully' is meant 'true to self' as interpretations by third parties differ - and as the French would say 'Vive la difference !'

Please accept my best wishes to the hard - if not over - worked judges and contest organizers

Translation (part 1): I have withdrawn my entry from your contest because poetry is subjective and I am afraid that I must disagree with the premise that "genius" can be found in the written word due to both the subjective/objective conflict and the logical neutrality of words.

Translation (part 2): I have taken my entry out of your contest because the contest is inherently flawed.

Translation (part 3): I won't participate in this contest because I disagree with your standards.

      Translation (part 4): Pfffffffffft. :-P

      Got it.

      Now:

      1. the quest to uncover genius in the written word is the quest to push the limits of human ability and understanding on the part of the entrants AND the judges.

      2. humans use language to communicate, therefor words are neutral in only the most technical and irrelevant senses.

      3. engaging in worthwhile pursuits even when you do not exactly agree with their structure is a sign of maturity. (Which, when it costs exactly nothing, should not be undervalued .)

For easier assimilation of these points I have upcoded them into binary for you. Please see below:

      1010101010101010101011100100100101010010010001000110 not to mention: 01111000110010010010000011110010011000100000000111010110101010110101100
      0101011111100010010010010000011000110.

I hope you understand my point.

Is it too late to enter this as a piece for the contest? It has genius woven throughout - the binary sequence was particularly poignant, and spoke for all of us. I tried to translate it to hexadecimal so that my PC could appreciate it fully, but it broke down and cried. Well... it broke down, I cried...

See, to me I envision this as being a unique game of Frogger, in which case it cannot be effectively played by way of a single comment posting.

But if it absolutely is a game of Tic-Tac-Toe, then I assume to be playing "O's" and therefore claim a draw with my move to the bottom left corner.

You're wrong on both accounts. It is an screen shot from the upcoming Doom 4.
