My true love
I thought true love had gone from me before -
the father of my children sadly lost.
Another lover came to me once more
but he was false and left me with the cost.
Quite often I've considered my emotions
and how it feels to be in love for keeps.
I cherish Heath's dependable devotion
and constancy - I know he loves me heaps.
A love so deep that none can ever break.
This love of ours is blest beyond our dreams.
For each of us it's based on give and take
in planning life - our dreams come true it seems.
In love I'm lucky. This was meant to be.
It can be yours if you just wait and see.

Third time round, I have found my love. Your poem flows and expresses so much love. It is truly beautiful. God bless you both and best of luck in the contest.
Hugs and love,

Your first stanza struck me with its double tragedy, but very quickly your second reassured me. A dependable man is one of life's greatest blessings, I know from my own experience. I think you are right, to be "lucky in love" you have to be willing to give and take whatever is going. Maturity is certainly a benefit! Best of luck in the voting!

What a beautiful love story, Hine. You and Heath are so fortunate to have found each other. It certainly brings out the muse within you

A beautiful poem

Oh so lucky to be lucky in love!
Enjoyed your poem very much!
If everyone was lucky in love, what a wonderful world it would be!

OOOHH it certainly is Maureen. Especially with someone as virile as my Heath is.

With the title I expected a three-page treatise on all the different kinds of love, because there are so many, not only romantic, but family, friends, pets, home --and the very special kind, "unconditional."
While I'd have preferred "My Love" as a title, delight with so many iambic pentameters more than compensated!

Dear Terry, I may already have that title "My love" on a poem. I'll look through them and see. *smile* because it would be a better title.
Hine
I changed it to "My true love"

OHH Hine, You and Heath make me so envious of the love the two of you have. You are so lucky in love to find a beaut guy like Heath. One day I hope I am as lucky. A beautiful Sonnet dear cuz.

Dear Hine,
I see you and Heath are still very happy and it's great to see. A lovely Sonnet you have penned.

Of all the blessings granted from above,
the greatest is the gift of human love.
When two combine in mutual affection,
is that by Cupid's or from God's direction?
Is't Venus or the goddess Aphrodite
who first persuades a bride to doff her nightie?
~~~
Well, my dear Hinemoa, you shed your anonymity (if not your virginity) by mentioning Heath and, for those of us who have seen you two together, there can be no mistaking the joy of love between you.
Good luck in the contest voting. Applause for a beautiful sonnet.
Love and hugs, XXX Hugh (R.)
