outside Rain falls
he lands in sheets
shattering against the rooftops
spraying mist into the air
he leaves a heavy fog
rising
this mist is heavy
choking to inhale
he thunders outside
trying to be let inside
the windows hold him at bay
as he howls to be let in
wailing
his eyes flash
his deep voice
thunderous, yelling
clouds spanning in every direction
gray and angry
hanging above me
i cower and try to go unnoticed
as Rain passes above
barking at me
as night sets in
his flashes illuminate my room
the posters and pictures of loved ones
illuminated by his rage
he yells, trying to be left in
hollering
wailing, yet the windows hold him at bay
the creek rises
once a happy creek
babbling and laughing
now is roaring and running
trying to escape its banks
the sounds of tree limbs snapping
crashing of them falling to the ground
thrashing in the wind as it
howls outside
whistling
trying to rip apart the house
trying to come inside
let me in, she pleads
Rain keeps falling
heavy and stern
lightening for no one
until
morning comes
the cool crisp damp air refreshes my nostrils
welcoming itself to my senses
and then
world is reborn anew,
ravaged with debris
but fresh and clean
until
Rain comes again
