You look at me and wonder why
I do this every day.
The sweat, the tears, the blood and pain,
The price that I must pay.
You look at me and think I'm mad
To willingly choose this life.
How can I bear the fear and stress,
the heartache and the strife?
You look at me and you don't see
The pride I feel within.
The satisfaction hard work brings,
The fights 'gainst fear I win.
To serve my country is my job
Though it's no easy deed,
This is the path I choose to walk,
This is the life I lead.

wonderful
I guess no one understands unless they have been in those shoes serving. I think that is amazing and shows the true spirit of a soldier. God bless. It is a huge price to pay on your mind, body and soul and for this we are all thankful... -

A Very Smooth Write...
...about a not-so-smooth subject: the lifestyle of the soldier. I often wonder why those combat soldiers do what they do. I'm just simply amazed at what they must know they would have to endure, since I'm sure they knew what they were getting themselves into.
An admirable job with this.

A very simple and well written piece.
I think that we sometimes forget that
some people choose this life for a reason.
It brings forth a sense of security, respect,
humility, and accomplishment to your life.
To serve and protect your country is a great
way to give back. What ever fears we may
harbor deep within, can all be set free when
on the battlefield.
Well done with this and thank you very much for entering it into my contest. I appreciate it and
wish you the best of luck with it!
