Personally I think this would have worked without the II and the ^^, just suggesting the lateen sail and the hull. Buty it's a cracker nonetheless. Congratulations on all the yellow jugs!

W.O.W. this blew my mind!!! this is seriously perfect in every way!! it's amazing how you got the exact shape of a boat in your mind, and used perfectly numbered words to fill up that shape!! and then, i know it must have taken a bit of editing after posting, because it always messes up the spacing a little bit. but here it is. being perfect. (and here i am, babbling. sorry)

great job! this is a shoe-in!

It is a very nice poem which speaks volumes of novel ideas. The structure, both physical and poetic are very unique and it conveys a great message and more than anything else, it has the quality of a masterpiece. What happened friend... long time... since you visited my page. I wish that your new mask does not prevent you to stamp your impressions on my poems. Great work. Keep it up

What a delightful guilty pleasure there is to be found in this piece. I know that word picture poems are not exactly a new concept, but I always enjoy them when they are well done. Too often authors of works such as these(1) craft beautiful word images (in the literal sense) that are short on meaning. I think, generally, you have managed to avoid this pitfall in an enjoyable fashion.

The thing here is, if we decide to promote this work (and we may) it will still be a bit of a fudge. Your words, while nicely constructed would not, alone, consitute the sort of work we are looking for in this contest(2). It is a tough call to say whether the novelty of the design overcomes the necessarily limited word choices you had to make in its construction. (My feeling is that it probably does, since the limits that you set upon yourself were for a higher, design related purpose.)

I would imagine that this piece probably took a while in its literal construction, but it was a pleasure to come across. My only concern, as should be clear by now, is that its greatest virtue is also, nearly, its only one. If you intend on doing these in the future I would suggest you write a worthy piece and then try to find a design to fit it to, rather than the other way around.

    Thank you for your entry.

    ~Das

1 - Not that there are many works that would fit into a "such as these" category. What I mean here is that works that focus on how a poem visually looks (acrostic, etc) can often come up lacking in talent with regards to the words themselves.

2 - You could state that part of the reason why this is so may be due to the fact that the format of the poem precludes proper line breaks making the piece slightly hard to read. You'd be correct in this assumption, but rest assured that we have forgiven that reality for the sake of preserving the better aspect of the piece.

    Wow

Okay, the writing style is alright, though a little jaded and stale. However, what you lost in that was more than made up for by the way you used ACII art to display the poem. The way you describe things is descriptive enough to give a mental image, yet vague enough to leave things to the imagination.

    Overall, I give it a 4 out of 5.
