I Am One Of Thousands
Though there are thousands of others so much like me,
we travel our roads alone, in fear of what life may present.
Lost and afraid, much like a child without it's parent
crying desperately inside, wishing we could just hide away.
Still we go forth into unknown territory, so determined.
I, myself, came here for a reason, I must suceed and get it done.
In the heat and dryness of this lonely place I can barely breath
my feet burn and ache but I must keep walking on.
I'm one out of thousands with many feelings so similar
discouraged, beaten, tired of trying, but not ready to die!
Nature can't defeat me and neither will mankind
for I am armed and ready, and the scenario will not be kind.
I'm just a shell, so empty inside, yet able to function on command
no feelings left to concede too, my soul has somehow escaped me.
Don't pity me, I'm just discouraged, unable to focus and find myself
I am one of the thousands that will soon go home, but how I don't know!

This is a great piece you have written here.
Life as a soldier is so uncertain and very
unpredictable. It's amazing how many people
there are in this world that are so willing
and ready to go to war. Others just shy away
in absolute fear of it and once shipped, wonder
endlessly when it will all end. Going home is
something that stays in your heart and mind.
Well done and thanks a lot for entering this
piece in my contest. I appreciate it and wish
you the best of luck with here!
