A young woman dragged her feet through the mud
Sinking deeper and deeper with every step
She hung her head low watching herself sink
As she looked at her hands that read 'sin'
This woman had given into the temptation
Her family raised her right
Didn't they?
She had the greatest friends
Didn't she?
Her heart was made of gold
Wasn't it?
She felt the cold eyes around her
Friends, family, and lovers
All watching her slowly sink
Yet their backs were turned
She heard them whisper
How she became a fallen angel
How God had given up on her
How the Devil had found a new home
She began to cry
As the tears streamed down her face
Just like crystals
She gave up
she let herself sink further
Until only her head and arms were above the mud
Then as she looked around the the people once more
She saw a small child staring back, smiling.
The boy held the hand of a crying little girl
The woman screamed saying he'd drown
They both walked into the mud
Yet they didn't sink
They walked on it
Almost as if they were flying
The smiling boy held the woman's hand
Then he placed the little girls hand in the woman's.
He then said "Everything will be alright."
As both hands joined together a white light erupted around her
Lifting her up
The woman's hands with clean
Her feet were no longer trapped in the mud
The little girl stared at her smiling
And the woman looked down at the people who were smiling
The boy rose up and became her wings
And the girl became her soul
She woke up
With the words 'forgiven' written on her hands
Author notes
It's more of a story yet I like adding a story within a poem. I hope you like it.
