brushes with fate
on ascension upwards,
endeavor of enlightenment,
ignites,
conflagration of arrogance
to tempt the god’s fury,
as descends his
karma

Comments on Disbelief:
Such great classical reference you have added in your poem:
Elysium's gossamer chattel withers and dies
each time a heart
passes into the cold harsh realm,
You have described the hindrances to flowing new thoughts, and your descriptions are eloquent and evocative. I really liked how you took the picture and made such a great statement about how disbelief can hold back those who believe. Very well done, good luck in the contest!

Perfect count....thank you ~
The best things about this write is that
it was cliche', yet ..................it was
generous with grammatical

Hard to do with a cliche' write ~
Well done Hun ~

a butterfly cinquain seems very appropriate for the story of Icarus. I like the one by Auden, Musee des Beaux Arts http://myweb.dal.ca/waue/Trans/Auden-Musee.html which is based on the Breugel painting, The fall of Icarus.

Very well written. I can remember back in the seventies, when on occassion I too, like Icarus, thought that I could fly. I don't take that stuff anymore.
