From The Spirit Of An Animal!
They brought me home at just
5 weeks old.
They tied me outside even
Though the night was cold!
I was scared and I was freezing,
I wondered,where was my mother?
I left her behind with my
Sisters and brother.
I needed her milk,the food here was dry.
For the coming 5 weeks all I did was cry!
My owners voice shouted"shut up"
I was moved down the garden
"We won't hear him now" my
Owner roared.
My eyes are now dead,
They show all my pain!
As I lay in the heat on the end of a chain.
The chain is just one metre long,
Tell me what have I done wrong?
I no longer cry,for what is the use?
My Spirit has gone,how I long to be loose!
My dried food's brought to me just once a
Week,My owner just dumps it,does not even
Speak.
I see no one at all from one day to the next
,live in my own dirt,No joy to expect.
To my amazement,my owner arrived
"We are going to let this dog off the chain
,I have been given a rottweiler to guard in
The dark,that's what we need,a dog that
Will bark".
They took me away,to where I don't know
"Get off wretched creature,time for you
To go"
Their car drove away,I was all alone,
Which way to turn?,I don't have a home
For months I survived eating scraps from a
Bin!,My hair fell out,I became very thin!
Then a miracle happened,a lady came by,
She picked me up gently and she tried not to
Cry!,I was driven again,to a refuge this
Time,There were hundreds of caring people,I
Knew I would be fine!,I slowly recovered,
The vet was so kind!,He gave me injections
But I didn't mind,Eight months passed,I
Found a new home!,I was well fed and I
Was loved! And nobody shouted at me anymore
Sometimes I think of the poor soul on my
Chain,just one of thousands cruelly
Subjected to pain!

Yes, some people it seems, can be very irresponsible and cruel to animals placed in their care. Glad this story had a happy ending.

People are indeed very cruel and inconsiderate of another living animals feelings.

Heartbreaking!
Wonderful job! It is so sad that animals are still being abused. It's along the lines of abusing a baby as they have no voice and no real means of protecting themselves. You've done a wonderful job of expressing yourself, your point of view, without getting to graphic and that really allows the poignant message to come through powerfully.
