Golden Sands

My friend and I walk the golden sands that stretch on for infinity
It is a paradise here
A paradise of our own creation
A paradise born of imagination
The sun swirls high in the sky
Illuminating a world of gemstones in your eye
Vast lakes of crystal water
A land worthy of Heaven’s daughter
Intriguing caverns, endless trees
All touched by the gentlest breeze
There is no place in this land for fret and fear
Not even the Lord of the Flies can touch us here
We merely lie, relax in the heat
As the crystal water licks our feet

My friend and I walk the golden sands that stretch on for infinity
It is a paradise here
But even as we cling to the memories of when here we came
It does not seem quite the same
Why is it that all the games we played
Should all, one day, come to fade?
The sands are gone now, the forests too
We have returned to a plain, old room
The light is dull, the fittings dusty
The odour stale, the fireplace rusty
But there is still no place for fret and fear
To worry for the safety of all we hold dear
For there is still a sun swirling in the sky
And I still see that world of gemstones in your eye

Please tell me what you think
