The Storm

Can you hear the pennywhistle
As it echoes through the hills?
Can you see the rolling ocean
With its caps and waves and rills?

Can you smell the salty air
As you stand atop the cliff
Looking down to rocky ledges
Neath the lazy clouds that drift?

Can you hear the growling thunder
As it rumbles far away
Stead'ly tumbling closer
As the daylight fades away?

Can you feel the whipping south winds
Tugging at your limbs
Pulling at your body
To direct you at their whims?

Can you hear the crashing surf
As it tumbles o'er the rocks
Dancing with the seagulls
As they cry and sway in flocks?

Can you smell the coming raindrops
As they wash the steaming earth
And bathe your swirling senses
In the scent of nature's birth?

Can you hear the swishing grasses
As the storm draws swiftly nigh?
Can you feel as though you're flying
With the clapping clouds on high?

Can you close your eyes and smile
As the rain cascades around
Shimm'ring on your skin
As it slips to meet the ground?

Can you let the storm renew you?
Can you soak the showers in
With outstretched arms before you
As the droplets kiss your skin?

Can you taste the crystal waters?
Can you dance within the arms
Of the darkness falling round you
As the storm bespeaks its charms?

If you could only stand here
On this green and grassy knoll
While the thunderstorm above you
Rushes on and takes its toll

Then perhaps you'd come to witness
The pulse of nature's dance
And perhaps you'd never wish
To be free of nature's trance

Amazing. Absolutely stunning. You really painted a wonderful picture, and I don't want to say more for fear of ruining the beauty.
