The Study Of Butterflies

Sometimes the butterflies are pinned to a plaque
and are placed where no one can see,
And sometimes I'm callous and then lose track,
But today, the butterflies are free.

Today the flowers bloom in your eyes
and the roses, they grow in each flush.
Today the sunshine brightens the sky
and the butterflies, they come in a rush.

      Ah chimera, a product of my imagination, I meant it in this case. Yes, it could be ego.

      Thank you again for visiting.

    What a fascinating painting,
    dancing on the wall,
    dreams invisioned while awake,
    fighting for survival
    with grace of fluttering butterfly,
    winged femme fatale.

    Happy you have captured these
    and saved them upon the page.

    Soft applause, rising to crescendo!!!

      In the sense I used it, a chimera is a grotesque product of one's imagination.

      In Greek mythology is a fire-breathing female monster with a lion's head and a goat's body and a serpent's tail...in other words, My Aunt Kate!

      LOL, that is ok, I write, "Shocking Tale Of Horror" on everything I write, just a silly joke I've kept up for 3 and a half years. I know, I'm weird.

      It is just about seeing a loved one in the flickering flame on the wall.

      No need to read my poems, I delete most of them anyway. I like to read, that's why I'm on AP.

    This is really cool, I especially liked
    "That casts a calm upon my shame
    an omen of fleeting light,
    That feasts upon the evening's fall
    in shadows of delight." I like the sense of anticipation that builds up throughout towards the "ecstasy", the whole thing is dreamlike.

    I've been away from this page too long. Any chimera you may have harbored has long since gone up in smoke...this is so warmly permeating, just the way dreams flying on the wings of heart should be. Evening's fall becomes pure magic that long outlasts the shadows.

    Oh, this is so full of wonderful imagery and from the depth of your ever lovin' heart, truly, miMayne, this captures so much of what love can do for one and don't ever say you can't write poetry, this is such an eloquent and so felt piece, it shines forth with the heart and soul and is just such a beautiful work, ah, you!!!

    You are so gifted, sigh, what can I say, loved this.
    And hugs to you and bellabellaMari
    What a piece, I see she likes it too!
    OOOOOOOOOOOOOPS! I already commented on this, it seems, oh well, lil footy is a bit confuzzled, ahhhhh!
    I still like it much, so, oh well!

    When reading this poem again, I think of Billy Joel's song It's all about soul
    You know, you have no reckless heart and certainly no chimera born there.
    It's a shame that not many people come to say what they think of your poetry. Post a silly poem about cows and pigs and they will come to spread their LOL's

    Fine verses you have here, with a lovely message between them

    GOOD ONE YEM

    Where have you been Yem? I came across this beautiful poem you've written. I love it when you're in your silly moods and I love it when occasionally the serious Yem comes out. Let's face it: I love it no matter what mood you're in.
    Seriously Yem: This is a corker of a poem for our dear Mari and by the looks of the title there is fifteen more in your list that I will have to investigate.

(No more) the stars will show up eventually. I used to keep clicking until one day I got my message back that I'd posted on a friends poem 20 TIMES! So remember click ONCE ONLY!

      The title, (XXVI) just indicates the number of months I've known Mariza, well, I've known her longer, but 26 since she winked back. Thanks Angelica for reading it.

    Just to make this out: I read you (or tried to at least) everytime I see you popping up on my list, but fail to comment most of the time. However, this truly deserves a comment since it's a side of writing I haven't seen in you for a whooole long time.

    You have captured a whole lot of beautiful imagery within the lines, and you let the emotions flow like a waterfall.

    I just don't know why, but the whole style you've written this in reminded me of Herman De Coninck, Belgium's most celebrated poet.

    I remember I saw you once stating you aren't a poet person? Now hush that face the next time you try to say that (people won't believe you )

    A beautiful piece of art, for a beautiful woman

    Dear Yem,

    I'm sorry that I didn't get to this poem earlier but I missed it because the multiple postings of trophy hounds had driven it off my "New by Favourites" list.
    (I wish the system would returm to showing only the latest posting by each author instead of five or six each by the same people!)
    This poem is a side of Yem that we don't see often enough but which shows a poetic and romantic vein which should be allowed much freer development.
    This poem is, in fact, full of deep feeling and expression, so much so that I am minded of a sonnet written by that struggling poet Heathcote whose seldom-read works so often lie crumpled in my wastepaper basket after he has left for his home. I quote:
    ~~~
    "How fickle females flirt and frolic
    as fools like us become their game.
    No wonder men get alcoholic
    and burn their moths' wings in the flame.
    "Oh! We may dream and fantasize
    of torrid night and steamy lust,
    lured by the light of lustrous eyes
    and tempted by a creamy bust.
    "But, when the lights go out, the Ball
    is ended and the senses wake,
    she leaves us lonely after all,
    claiming her head’s begun to ache.
    "How thus are shattered in a trice,
    the best-laid plans of men and mice!"
    ~~~
    I realise this has absolutely nothing to do with your excellent poem above, but thought I'd seize the chance to get Heathcote's ill-starred words aired.
    Hope you don't mind. Vigorous applause for your poem. Keep writing. I've bookmarked it so please don't delete it.
    Love and regards, Hugh.

      Actually the poems seems to fit quite well. Heathcote is as wise as he is humorous. I'm sorry about Heathcote's poems gathering dust, he, Ima and me have something in common. I shall add Heath to my fav list, and I'll ask Ima to add him also but he's very stubborn and rarely listens to me. (my pre-excuse for the probability that I'll forget to add him to Ima, lol.

    Don't ever say you aren't a poet or that you can't write poetry, this is beautiiful!
    There is a depth of feeling and the imagery and just all of it, beautiful, just a special piece and what a gift for bella! And for us, also!
    We don't always get to see this side of your writing, so, thank you! And as you can see, the inspiration for this agrees that you can too write poetry, I'd say she is likely smiling over this!
    much applause!

    When you tell me to take a look at your page, I imagine to find some crazy thing lol
    This was a surprise, first because you said you haven't written anything but few scraps lately, secondly because is one day earlier, but I guess that was intentional, part of the surprise
    For you who keep saying that poetry doesn't fit in your program, you do come with the most amazing thoughts converted in words.
    Loved the first stanza at most. You are a poet when you want to.
