Another Drink and You'll Be Gone

Hate boils over to much to keep in
to much to hide from
the words form and bubble frothing at the mouth
pouring out in a single involuntary puke like action
that sends them hurling at the target
far from the garbage pail or floor
far to late to take them back
far to late to keep them in
paper towels won’t clean this mess
better just leave now
not looking for forgiveness
not taking them back
just acknowledging you meant it
no looking back the door is already closed and locked
its victim inside hiding from words
that echo in her head and off the walls
run far from here her screams are becoming audible
seeping from the room
surrounding all with the sounds of agony
a nightmarish hell self imposed
no way out
no where to run
just sit and listen to the screams
of this night with stars high over head
enjoy the final beauty
her voice is fragile and failing already
soon it’ll be a distant memory
like a childhood dream that never happened
nothing more than an illusion
easily forgotten with drink in hand
she falls silent
staggering away the sky opens
washing away this night
into a place never to be spoken of again
