loneliness fills my empty heart.
Sounds of children a mem’ry now,
their laughter living inside me.
Lackluster clouds drape from the sky,
you are the mist inside my eyes?
Misty rain falling from my eyes,
as I dream of the days gone by.
Thinking of you, look into the sky
and sadness fills my aching heart.
Why did He take you before me?
What am I supposed to do now?
Never felt the pain I feel now,
I hang my head and close my eyes
as fear closes in around me.
I’m longing for the days gone by;
the happiness within my heart,
a rainbow coursing cross the sky.
The pastel shades in azure sky
bring a smile to my pale face now.
Warmth felt again within my heart,
brightness returning to my eyes.
No longer mourning days gone by,
that flame rekindled inside me.
Last night your essence came to me
as I gazed up into the sky.
Ne’er let a moment, pass you by,
live your life for the here and now.
You wiped the teardrops from my eyes,
taking the sadness from my heart.
Sounds of love from this beating heart,
soft the tune that plays inside me.
Magic the sparkle in my eyes
as we’re dancing across the sky.
Forever you are with me now,
no longer will time pass me by.
Both mine and your heart in the sky;
it’s you and me right here and now,
stay in my eyes, as time goes by.

Author notes
This is an entry for my group, The Titles Challenge Group and it is also my first attempt at this form.
Sestina
The sestina is a strict ordered form of poetry, dating back to twelfth century French troubadours. It
consists of six six-line (sestets) stanzas followed by a three-line envoy. Rather than use a rhyme
scheme, the six ending words of the first stanza are repeated as the ending words of the other five
stanzas in a set pattern. The envoy uses two of the ending words per line, again in a set pattern.
First stanza, ..1 ..2 ..3 ..4 ..5 ..6
Second stanza, ..6 ..1 ..5 .. 2 ..4 ..3
Third stanza, ..3 ..6 ..4 ..1 ..2 ..5
Fourth stanza, ..5 ..3 ..2 ..6 ..1 ..4
Fifth stanza, ..4 ..5 ..1 ..3 ..6 ..2
Sixth stanza, ..2 ..4 ..6 ..5 ..3 ..1
Concluding tercet:
middle of first line ..2, end of first line ..5
middle of second line ..4, end of second line..3
middle of third line ..6, end of third line ..1

Aaron, Thank you for the lovely words of praise you gave to me my dear friend. Even when He takes the one we love before us we will still be with them eternally. That is the magic that true love holds and why it is so enchanting. In loss they are still there as long as we don't let go in our hearts we will always have them with us until we come together again on the spiritual plane. I'm very happy that you enjoyed this piece so much. Love and God bless you my dear friend, Joyce

Fantastic! Do you realize only 2% of all poets have composed a Sestina and fewer still have composed one that flows well and has a good image. You have created a true work of art here and you impress me so much. This is an excellent piece you pushed all my buttons first, I’m a sucker for love poems and then you did it in a Sestina. Bravo!!! I wish I could give more than three bunnies.
Love,
Amera ♥

Amera,
Without your helpful instructions I don't know if I would ever have gotten around to one of these. I was worried that this would come out looking like doggie doodoo. Your praise means more than those little bunnies could ever mean. Thank you for everything. This was a task, though I would write another one. As much as this had sad in it, the true love is still there. Together eternally. I'm very happy that you enjoyed this. Love you my friend, Joyce
