You worry you're gonna hurt me
And I keep telling you:
You've been honest and I understand it
Ya gotta do what ya gotta do
Do you not know I'll be okay?
I've been crushed before...
By some who cared much less than you
By some who wanted more
And here I am, a stronger woman
And just moderately bent
I can still find joy in silly things
Though I am not innocent
I have crawled and I have limped
Would've preferred they'd used a knife
Done things I love, things I regret
And still claim it as my life
It's made my heart which holds so much
And if I could not hold more
I wouldn't have let you touch me once
Wouldn't have let you through the door
This is why I want you to
make love to me all night
To cause and cure my shaking fits
Make me believe that it's alright
And this is why these moments hold
So much importance in each--
They will be my mem'ries to visit
when you are out of reach
Author notes
I think it's interesting that the first letters of the first three lines are "YAY." That was not intentional.
I know it doesn't flow very well, so you don't need to tell me that

I really enjoyed this write! I think just about anyone can relate to this in so many different ways on so many different levels. Very nice work

The flow is fine, I think anyway. I love it, very much so. It's filled with such emotion and such passion. Great job! ♥ Erin

This is beautiful. May I show it to my fiancee? Truly this is how I look to him. After all that has come through my life and trampled my heart he has been there to hold me. Even if he should leave, the memories will be too sweet to want to give up.

absolutely! Thanks for asking, but you didn't need to. I appreciate your respect for discretion, though. And thanks for the comment. Take care!
