Only love survives

Through the ages meek and mild
running rampant adult and child
what are the lessons learned
jealousy and hate, love spurned
yet over and over we learn again
over and over we begin
where, who, what am I?
everything and nothing, truth and lie

am i noble or fool
predetermined by some rule
or sculpted by our reality
the one true tragity

through the ages wisdom we seek
piecing existence from sources leeked
knowledge of the ages
book of many pages

honor, discipline, instilled
warrior, yet lover til heart stilled
wars of love fought within without
love can there be doubt

lessons we learn and pass along
same old dance to a brand new song
history repeating again for all
just before, the end does fall
just or wrong we muster away
to live to die, to go or stay
we flare in brilliant in moments
spending our very components

to follow or lead
to lay fallow or cede
energy spent ever renewing
falling away our undoing

what is this place of rest
home and more, or place of test
scholars live loves pay
knowledge burdens but love stays

hands of time moving faster
student soon the unwilling master
in love we try
in the same, we die

yet in love flares again
dreams dormant with those slain
ending never without possibility
to seeker with sincerity
the path light of life
the darker path strife
both so long unending
without those lost in the bending

reality so clear and new
so old and crusted so skewed
perceiving the dealings
receiving the stealing

who what where am I?
this one and none guy
searching out my love
looking for that alcove

conquering all and none
through the father and son
through the mother and child
only live survives the wild

very nice, i love your twisty phrasing. Beautiful yet raw, and so deeply true.
