memories of a well

Calling memories
Gazing deeply into well
speaking to echoes
of my bygone days of love
fills heart as water in cup

For feelings linger
like locust on evening breeze
remembrance pleases
and comes to  the gentle mind
like embrace of an old friend

You give us so much to ponder and sigh on with this lovely double tanka. The tanka originated in an age of romantism and your poem reflects that too. I so love this form as well. Lovely poetry.

Gentle breezes of an older memory...mine are haunting I do not wish to ever look back. Some memories are best left to die! Nice poem though! ~Sie
