His Smile.

It's 2 o' clock and she's crying as loud as she can.
Nothing will make her stop.
Not food, not love, not toys, not a clean diaper.
It started like all days, around noon.
It's been going on non-stop, not even to catch her breath.
Just rocking her and singing to her is all I can do.
There are keys in the door now and the doorknob turns.
Silence.
She jerks her head around, searching for something or someone.
He comes up from behind and plants a kiss on my cheek.
She's still searching, silent.
He comes around to the front.
He looks her into her eyes and smiles.
She smiles back and reaches her little arms out towards him.
He says, "Hello Beautiful"
And she says back, "ehh ahh guu."
He takes her in his arms and holds her high into the air.
She smiles so big and talks up a storm as if saying,
"I missed you, where'd you go?, I'm so glad you're here now."
They sit and talk and read together.
They play peek-a-boo and make funny faces with eachother.
They eat and sing and sleep together.
She's perfect.
And all it took was his smile.

wow this piece is just so sweet... I like how the beggining seems to take forever on her just crying... though it must seem like a little private hell for you... but then when her father gets home it all seems to change... which is pretty nice how it all worked out... What I wanted to say is that its weird how children miss their father... I guess it might be because they are with their mothers all day... and their fathers always seem to leave for work... so its more like the child wants her father not to leave...

Isn't it just fascinating how children are?

This one definitely conveyed the image of "Daddy's little girl". I like that the mother doesn't take offense, but probably just appreciates and encourages this relationship.
Thanks for entering, and best wishes.

Awww this is lovely. She sounds so cute. I can just imagine this scene. I'm a bit of a daddys girl too, this kinda reminds me of the stories my parents told me about whne I was a baby. thanks for making me smile.
