A Proud Robin

A puffed up robin
Sits proud and strong
He has been the best
The best for so long

He fluffs with his great crest
To attract a beautiful mate
They fight to get him
But they were too late

Only the best friends will win
For he does not care
Not for a beauty nor a girl like a fox
Or even one quick as a hare

He will give you rocks
If you ask for some seed
While he eats his
He will not give you any heed

If you ask for his
When your belly is burning
He will not give you any
As you watch with yearning

Even when he has plenty
He will drop them on the ground
Letting them rot
Rather than sharing around

He will waste a lot
Scar his life
With what he doesn't need
Giving everyone strife

He is so conceded
He is so hated
He will be abandoned
Though it is belated

He should have been abandoned
Long before now
When he lost his compassion
But how?

He lost his love
When he got caught up
With himself and the world
And he could not stop

He did not care
About those above or below
And now he passes away
He ends up alone
