Rain

As I reflect over the past
I feel your cleansing power
As you wash over my skin
I need you hour by hour

I love the way you cast
A veil over me
It feels almost like we are kin
But we are three

The wind, you and I all meet at last
We join together in a never ending dance
Helping or hindering so we might win
Exchanging every glance

As your tears mingle with mine
The pain drifts away
Anguish replaced by peace
And I wish that it would stay

We wish we could control time
Hold it down as it crests
Slow it down at least
Enjoy every breath

But you will fade away from the sublime
Float away as you always do
Back to that ugly beast
That beast that kills at that is true

But do not waste another tear
I will stand by
I will not fall
And I will try

So go now and do not fear
For you must leave
I will stand tall
Though a sigh I will heave

As I look through the mirror
I realize I shall go on
And once again you shall fall
Even when I am gone

So move on swift rain
Take back your tears
Move past the now
And hold no fears
