Dr. Martin Luther King

Martin Luther King, jr.:
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

Martin Luther King, jr.:
Segregation is the adultery of an illicit intercourse between injustice and immorality

Martin Luther King, jr.:
In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.

These quotes above-
mean more to others than they do to some

Dr. King,
knew what silence would bring
He said what he meant,
and when things got bad, he did not remain content
This man believed in peaceful protest,
When it came to attaining equality, he would not rest
Dr. King was the youngest man to win a Nobel Peace Prize,
But soon enough, it was time to say his goodbyes
In the year of 1968,
this great man met his fate
April fourth was the day King was shot,
Save his own life, he could not
Dr. King-
What he did meant everything

This is a great tribute to a great man. You've captured his calm and hopeful demeanor well with a beautiful piece. This is wonderful and deserves more attention.

And a little off topic, but I had never heard the third quote before. That really touched me, and reminded me of two of my favorites, the first being Voltaire: "Every man is guilty of all the good he did not do." The second is a rather odd source, but from the movie The Boondock Saints: "We must all fear evil men, but there is another kind of evil which we must fear most of all, and that is the indifference of good men."

    Excellent work.
