The keys of the grand piano
Are ringing still
In the grand hall of this casino
A memory so full
So true
His fingers are still playing old tunes
She knows he’s still here
He hasn’t left
For all these tunes are still being played
His rough voice is ever echoing
Songs for her, songs for them
She listens intuitively
As each of his fingers hit a key
A star falls away
She looks at the grand piano
Where they both used to sing
His firm grip leading her fingers
To the right way
Now that he’s gone
Her heart is lost in the ashes of memories
Though his presence is gone
But forever this piano is playing his tune
Forever
Are ringing still
In the grand hall of this casino
A memory so full
So true
His fingers are still playing old tunes
She knows he’s still here
He hasn’t left
For all these tunes are still being played
His rough voice is ever echoing
Songs for her, songs for them
She listens intuitively
As each of his fingers hit a key
A star falls away
She looks at the grand piano
Where they both used to sing
His firm grip leading her fingers
To the right way
Now that he’s gone
Her heart is lost in the ashes of memories
Though his presence is gone
But forever this piano is playing his tune
Forever
Author notes
Just out of my head, also some scary thoughts that invade with slow sad songs. =D

Grand pianos are such a delight to listen to - those that can really play these well are in a class by themselves. We had have world renowned pianists play using the baby grand we have in the theatre and I just love to watch them so emersed in their work. Marvellous to see and hear. Liked this poem you wrote - sad and yet understandable.

This is lovely. Great images.Well done.

This is almost cinematic in its form. As you read it, you find yourself placing scenery and characters on your mind's stage and watching as a sad and touching scene plays to fade. Well done.

I like the repeat of "forever." Wonderfully done.

Resonating
This is both beautiful and sad, and you have portrayed the memories and emotions well. As you read, you can hear a rise and a fall, and sweet music playing. The imagery is wonderful, and it truly gives the poem life. The simplicity of the words and synax gives a sweetly reminiscent tone -

Thank you, the music feeling is what I wished to achieve. I am glad I could achieve it. I just wrote from my heart.
Thank you.

beautiful
I can almost hear the music now. I love slow piano and you played it in this poem. The love story played alongside is terrific. Took me to memories of Casablanca, the film, with that famous scene..."play it again." Surely a poem that inspires such emotion must be a great poem. And you have written it. Well done.

tone should be tune, in the second to last line.
I liked this, it was very sweet. Reminiscent of cabaret and jazz types of the 20's... yes?
i liked this. -

Yes, this is so romantic...but sad. Conjures up a lovely image in my mind...something like Titantic, for some reason. This is a really nice, bittersweet poem. Bookmarking!

SO SAD AND YET SO VERY SWEET
There is always something that holds memories for us, sometimes good and sometimes sad, we do hold onto them with our hearts though.
