Every mask to hide a shame,
To act a different life and name.
They see you as a decent being,
Until the man in the mirror came.
Beyond the name, beyond the mask,
The sins will follow of your past.
To pick a face, do choose well,
It's the last one seen, before Hell.
Run and hide, try to lie,
But to repent? You'll never try.
So as you walk down corridors past,
You look upon every mask,
You see this constant struggle consumes,
But do you pick a mask, or does it pick you?

Well that is quite a different picture you've been inspired by, but I definately like the poem you've written with it

Love the ending of it!

Wow this is filled with deep thoughts. And the ending was just right for this poem. Leaves the reader with a thought of their own. I loved...keep up the excellent work.

I so agree. Does the mask pick you or do we pick it? So many of us seem to wear those masks not really meaning to but knowing that it helps.
Very well done on your gold.

Very well done. This is deep, haunting and true. There are people who will forever run from what and who they really are, while others 'face' up to .
Thank you for entering, and good luck with the contest
