Oh Mighty Pen

Oh mighty pen
of such thunderous roar in ink,
you have taken eyes
to skip upon the clouds
with the airy feathers
stroking from your magnificent,
golden creative plume.

How you are envied by some
and adored by others,
a verse god sublime
dwelling upon an accolade throne
in the loftiest poetic Elysium.

Today we salute and celebrate
that moment
when you first came to life.

Wondering, secretly,
did you come out of the womb
toting a quill?

You need not make us drool
over whether destiny so blessed.

For we shall simply sit
and lament
why you always in a contest
beat our very best!

LOL...I had to giggle at this. Some of the metaphors were so over the top that I found myself quirking an eyebrow at your sanity. Then, I remembered that it is YOUR work that I'm reading here. Am I off topic much? Only slightly. My point in three words: This was hilarious. Kudos.
