The Last Goodbye.

.
Oh Dan Dan, please don’t wipe away your tears of sorrow,
I will savour their memory when leaving forever tomorrow.

They’re God’s gift to wash away the pain of our last parting,
that is why He has caused, your brown eyes to be smarting.

An intimate friendship has been how we travelled our course,
there for each other in times of contentment, pain or remorse.

Recall how we journeyed together, to many a wondrous place,
where I admired your beauty and the loving looks on your face.

Our futures at a crossroad, as destiny casts the seeds she sows,
mine‘s retirement and yours is a career your caring heart chose.

My race has been run and out into lush peaceful paddocks I go,
but you’re starting your future; time for your mind to now grow.

So I will always remember these warm crystal tears as you cry,
for there’s no greater gift of affection than the tears of goodbye.

. One of six poems about the start and sad parting of myself and my best friend Dan Dan.
That Kiss.

This part best brings out the great friendship you shared with Dan Dan, I think.

"Recall how we journeyed together, to many a wondrous place,
where I admired your beauty and the loving looks on your face."

    It is wondrously pure.

Thank you so much for your entry and all the best to you!

Another beautiful yet heartwrenching account of how you lost your friend. I am sorry that you had to learn what it feels like to have to say goodbye to someone you care for so much, even if its not through death.

A very interesting view point on the tears of goodbye...for me I think of tears as sorrow..not as affection. Very good write.

      Read the Author's notes.

The author's notes explain that she is studying nursing etc .. you must have missed it. Actually I beleiev the author's notes should prece the poem not after it as if fowarned, the flow is less disturbed . I have been doing this and it works much better.

    Barry my Friend

It's always a honor to read you writes. You always have interesting true stories of life. To many a good bye to a friend might not mean much. But to you, You make it a journey in life, a journey in learning. a journey in departing. A journey that will never really end. For that journey remains in you heart full of memories. You always bring your stories to life. And paint a picture of beauty even in the most smallest episodes of life. good luck in the contest (Lisa)

    hi my dear daddy

It's a beautiful piece on a sad event. Saying goodbye is always hard, but when there's an openning, there'll be an end as well.
Wish you luck in the contest.

I especially enjoyed your phrase "warm chrystal tears".

This piece impressed me as reflections on a limited but enjoyed time shared between separate generations with different seasons ahead.

I think line 4 might flow as well without the comma after 'caused'. Stanza 5, last word probably meant to be 'sows'?

May both of your futures be very happy ones.

Bazza what a joy it is to see your work in my contest. This is a beautiful loving piece Clearly expressing deep feelings held for the person the poem concerns.Parting while can be sad,it is my belief that one should reflect on the great fortune of the meeting. Many friends i knew have moved on but as long as the memories survive so does the friendship. Great to be here at last.

It is a joy and honour to be here mate ... lingering among the legends is pretty heady stuff. In the process of shiftin and as I missed the previous contest i was determined not to let you down this time. A little hurried and rough but at least I managed to submit.. Thanks mate for the words of welcome, comments and applause. Take care mate.

    So Heartfelt!!!!!!!!

Dear Barry, You told me of Dan Dan and I know you will miss each other. But as you tell me, we should always hold onto those beautiful memories and smile when we remember them. I smile much and remember plenty. You are right, there’s no greater gift of affection than the tears of goodbye. Thank you for this amazing poem. I always admire your strength to move on and remember only the happy and forget the sad. God Bless you my sweet friend for always being here with a smile when I need one. Always here for you too. Dear Bazza

A sweet, poetic story, great imagery and rhyming, flows beautifully and sad that you have to part ways but there is growth in sorrow. It leaves space in the heart for joy to enter. I think that is how it goes. Great write my friend. Best wishes in the competition.

    Hugs and love,
