Lane's Place

Missing image

My Georgia Peach, Lanes' Place

My Georgia peach upon the beach,
has given life to me.
My inner soul was hard to reach,
I found her by the sea.
I talk to her, most every day.
I’m sure the folks, all think we’re gay.
I talk to her,
I talk to her,
my Georgia peach who likes to play.

My Georgia peach upon the beach;
on a serious note…
Special children she likes to teach,
so then her fingers wrote.
Signing her way to children’s hearts,
with fingers and poetic arts.
Signing her way,
Signing her way,
My Georgia peach is off the charts.

My Georgia peach upon the beach;
I know more, yes I do.
There is more to her, than just her speech;
I talk to Adam too.
Telling her all of my troubles,
we chat in comic book bubbles.
Telling her all,
Telling her all;
Together the power doubles.

Our meeting, the Sonnet

Lane's Place

He came as I lay down to sleep that night
This handsome specter took me by the hand
Submitting all, completely out of fright
Drifting up the shore and over the sand

Then we stopped and Adam told me to wait
We drifted past some ladies with blue hair
They never noticed as we passed the gate
Like a mist we approached and up the stair

An eleven room house; we took a tour
And I learned of the secrets from this ghost
Then when I was ready and he was sure
We came to the attic to meet our host

It was cold and she sat there still and nude
But we could tell, she wasn’t in the mood

Author notes

Many of the metaphors only Lane will understand but this was written for her.

Sonnet
Sonnets are formal poems and consist of 14 lines (3 quatrains and a couplet) , traditionally written in iambic pentameter - that is, in lines ten syllables long, with accents falling on every second syllable.

Trijan Refrain

The Trijan Refrain, created by Jan Turner, consists of three 9-line stanzas, for a total of 27 lines. Line 1 is the same in all three stanzas, although a variation of the form is not to repeat the same line at the beginning of each stanza. In other words, the beginning line of each stanza can be different. The first four syllables of line 5 in each stanza are repeated as the double-refrain for lines 7 and 8. The Trijan Refrain is a rhyming poem with a set meter and rhyme scheme as follows:

Rhyme scheme: a/b/a/b/c/c/d,d refrain of first 4 words of line five /c

Meter: 8/6/8/6/8/8/4, 4 refrain/8

    OMG!!!!!!! This is stunning, it's brilliant, it's MAGNIFICENT!!! You have outdone yourself with this and the metaphors for Lane, that's so cool. With your elegant verbiage and flair for uniqueness you have penned to me what should be the gold in this contest. The descriptiveness that filled me with imagery abounding was fantastic and I have never seen a Trijan Refrain. You are an amazing writer and deserve much kudos for this one. Bravo!!! Bravo!!! Bravo!!! Encore!!! Best wishes in this, even your background and picture of the Lane's Place above the poem just accentuate it even more. I was left breathless by this one. No, I didn't say speechless. Thank you again for sharing the gift of your pen with all of us. Love and God bless you my friend, Joyce
