A Mother's Cry

~*~

Sweet scent of danger
Lingers within the forest~
Be still racing heart

Frozen snow crunches
Lurking closer to my lair~
Hide little ones, hide

Blare of thunder rings
Scurry, death is imminent~
Child's voice now silent

Author notes

"This is a great form of poetry that flows from my thoughts, though the picture I see is greater, I have summed it all up beautifully in such short verse."

Aww, this leaves such nice gentle caring thoughts. I see deer in my yard everyday and their little ones get caught behind the fence not knowing how to get around it. I see their mother come back and get them. The imagery in your poem feels so life like,,I can see why you got the gold.

As a new haiku-ist, I do not feel competent to judge the structure, but the imagery is wonderful.

    Well wishes in the contest.
