And inside your heart is a ward,
But I know of a path that's new.
Keep wishing 'til your dreams come true.
I know what many people say,
But to God you must turn today.
Now you cannot pay death it's due.
Keep wishing 'til your dreams come true.
I know life has an ugly toll,
And I will help you from this hole.
I'll help you paint a new life hue.
Keep wishing 'til your dreams come true.
I know God will get you out, dear,
There is no need for you to fear.
Oh please to God now turn your view.
Keep wishing 'til your dreams come true.
He will show you a setting sun
He'll see you through 'til this is done.
Pray with me here in this old pew.
Keep wishing 'til your dreams come true.
Author notes
This is a plea to a friend that's about to commit suicide. Also my first attempt at a form called the kyrielle.
Kyrielle has any number of four line stanzas, the first three being in iambic tetrameter (or pentameter), the last line being the refrain that's repeated at the end of each verse. It doesn't have to rhyme, but in this case it does. It's also been written in couplets. (Though I've yet to find one.)
The form is aabB, ccbB, etc., the capital B being the refrain.
It's been popular with church hymns, as well, but not confined to the subject.
Please tell me what you think

A good kyrielle D! You know I enjoy form poetry so I enjoyed this! I think your message to your friend is wonderful. We all need a helping hand sometimes. Well done and I hope all the best!
