I'm looking down from Heaven
And I thought you'd like to know
How proud I am now of you
And the path you chose to go.
It led you to this moment,
To "our" graduation day,
May it lead you ever forward
With adventures on your way.
I'm forever with you,
I'll forever be your friend,
Good luck and many blessings
Until we meet again.

You didn't follow the rules, however it was such a beautiful poem I was able to look past it. This is how I see graduation. After my grandmother whom raised me prayed and begged God every day to physically be there by my side on graduation. We always called it "our" graduation. I never thought much of it until she passed away at the end of my sophomore year. It was hard but the thought of her wanting it nearly more then me makes me keep it up and shine to make her proud. Thanks for your entry. I submitted this comment before yet it didnt seem to stick. Next time, be sure to follow the rules.
Thanks - tiffany

Fair enough. I thought I followed the rules. It is a graduation poem. And it is also sort of a "goodbye"...although the goodbye is from someone who has passed and promises to some day "meet again". Maybe I "bent" the rules, but I didn't think I broke them.
I am glad you like the poem...and yes, I can see how your grandmother's words to you made you connect to this poem even more. You never know...maybe it was her hand guiding me and not Caitlynn's. And I am sure she is proud of you. Smiles.
Blessings,

wow. this hit home hard. My brother graduated a few years ago and a friend of his died before graduation. I still remember the silence in that gym when they said this is the time when the boy would have recived his diploma. It was almost scarry. It was sad but I know the boy was smileing down on that gym. very nice write. I like the angle. (:
