Rehabilitation

I looked one way and saw how far I had come
I looked the other way and saw how far I had to go
I saw how much pain and unhappiness there was
I saw how much joy and affection there was
And I asked myself
Is it worth it?
Why go then when I can go now?
Why live when you can die?
This is what metal cages designed for rigorous self-exploration do to you.

I think the title fits this poem very well, and this conveys the pain and constriction that sometimes follows too much thought...wondering what death may bring... I love that you used several questions. This aspect brings the tone of the poem together a little more.

    WOW!!!!!

This is all my poetry balled up into one. You have done so well here to express how you feel and at the same time blown every other thought to smithereens. I loved this poem. You have bought so much to life here. Well done.
