Million Dollar Muse

Oral Poets, deficient of parchment, prayed to the highest Muse.
Memorable words flowed like a living stream and did infuse.
Tapestry words of earthly wonders for the Heavenly Devine.
For eons their pen of love helped framed and changed the mind.

Every good and perfect gift comes from This Supreme One.
Nor can Christ be put in a box, since He’s The Eternal Son.
This is my Redeemer, Eternal Word, and my constant Friend.
Money can’t buy such a Muse; who’s there with you till the end.

“Peace” He gives; His Love enfolds till no words can describe.
Multitudes receive His Love-letters, on Hearts He’s transcribed.
None ever spoke like this man, ‘twas said prier the resurrection.
Books record literary geniuses who’ve imprinted His connection.

The ancient Greek oral poets all had this anxiety about the deficiencies of their memories and always began poems by praying to the Muse to help them remember. ~by David Antin
