Let there be light, said God..
And there was you.
God looked down at my dark life,
and gave me the gift of light..
It is easy to be discontent,
to not thank Him for his blessings..
But when I look at you,
I remember how much I owe him.

You were born of the heavens,
to shine down on me like the warm sun.
You were born of the winds,
and blew happiness over my path.
You were born of the sea..
You, who swims and conquers the ocean,
as you swim and conquer life.
You were born from infinity,
to shower love on others forever.

You brought comfort to my bleeding heart,
warmth to my frozen soul,
rest to my weary head,
laughter to the silence of my universe.
You taught me the meaning of friendship,
with more affection than I have ever known.
You saw my inner darkness,
and turned it into light.

The sunshine in your heart,
nursed a dying sapling back to life.
You gave my roots the chance to spread,
to dig deep so I could stand on my own.
Yet you never ceased to watch over me.

You see me as I am
Fears, faults, fragility..
But you accept me for myself.
You didn´t just look at me,
you saw me.
You didn´t just hear my voice,
you listened.

You opened the door to my soul,
when even I thought I had lost the key.
You understand, even without explanations.
Words need not break the silence,
for you comprehend the things I do not say.

While God was watching over me,
He saw what I needed most.
A guardian angel, a best friend,
someone who saved me from myself.

You are his unique creation,
of goodness, warmth and love.
He gave you a heart of the purest chocolate,
so you could spread sweetness over the world.
I think of you,
and know that I must thank Him..
