Into the eyes of the Beast I stared
As we stood toe to toe
Atop the summit of Mount Despair
I, the noble hero
He, the devious foe
Swinging my fists of fury
I landed many a mighty blow
But to my dismay we still stood toe to toe
Out of options, not knowing what else to do
I shout down the mountain to the people
"Come up and help me, I am trying to save you!"
Defiantly the Beast stood before me
With a menacing grin
Looking into my eyes
Knowing certainly that I could not win
With his finger he pointed down and told me to look
" None of them know of the rights that I took,
Nor do they care
For it's only the material things
That matter down there"
As he let out an evil guffaw
I had realized my fatal flaw
That I had only prepared myself for the ascent
And not braced for the fall
