Cast out

Cast out by the wealthy,
Into the streets,
The poor and the hurting,
Are broken and beat.

Left to roam the alleys,
Dieing in their shame.
With no where to go,
To escape all their pain.

The food in so scarce,
Their malnourished and cold,
The drugs rob their minds,
While their bodies grow old.

Tears stain their cheeks,
As the days slowly pass.
The day that they die,
They will be free at last.

I know the life of poverty,
I know the fear of death,
I know the life of drugs,
Crack, cocaine, and meth.

Oh, can't you hear them crying,
Crying for your love?
When they're begging for you penny's,
They are longing just for love.

These are the people,
Lives governed by dope,
These are the people,
Who've given up hope.

Author notes

I was homeless for quite awhile. I'll never forget how it felt to be judged by everyone but my street family.
