Born, lived happily as a child,
fell in love and then died.
Reborn after a while,
struggled to walk to this world with no mercy,
made with trembling hands an armor from steel
and used it as a hiding place.
Couldn't be reached by the sun,
with pale skin and fragile hands,
it felt like being in the bottom of the food chain.
Developed a sharp tongue to keep vultures away,
internal light was only shining above hard work,
the rest of the body had a sole purpose to survive.
Basic mixtures of life's dough were there when needed,
family and friends turned everything around,
crumbs joined together,
finally ready to move on with precaution.
Armor removed, smile re-attached to the face
hopes and dreams fastened to the back like wings.
Now, being out there once more,
like a rose with hidden thorns,
live life to the fullest
but better prepared for the worst.
Worst fear-
a devious stub from a blunt knife,
underneath the skin..

great!
this was very refreshing to read, as many people have only listed their character flaws and fears in this contest. the imagery...fantastic! metaphors...great! the message was brought across well and i really gained an idea of who you are. thanks so much for entering and good luck!!

hmmm... so basically, the speaker is better but afraid of everything... kinda like that saying 'once bitten, twice shy' right?
