Have you ever wished to go blind
so your true sight was not inhibited
by swirling images of unimportance?
They say the blind hear things
we have forgotten to tune in to;
oh lost sounds in cacophonic craziness.
Oh, I have wanted so dark a night
that I had to feel to see.
I have heard smell becomes radar
and one can sense fragrance, fearful things,
warnings, angels hovering just behind a veil
by simple turn of head to catch a holy waft.
I wonder what skin feels like, a face, a chest,
a new baby’s blink against cheek, to those
who must go by touch? I close my eyes to test it.

This is beautiful, my Sister...I have sensed such things...I have not wished to be blind, though; I've worn glasses since I was 8 years old & already have the beginnings of cataracts & glaucoma...It's far too close to becoming a reality for me...I have often thought of being deaf, though; losing the noises of the world to silent blessings...but then, I would also lose birdsong, a lover's whisper, the sound of the wind dancing through branches...Ahhh, such loveliness...Good luck in the contest, my dear Friend...
