I could see your
Sad face looking at me
With so much hurt
The hurt I felt
When you left me
Is now the same hurt I see
On you
You whisper sorry
And a little tear rolls
Down my face
I reach for you
And our hands embrace
Once again the same old
Feelings come back
We lay in my bed
And you held on to me
Never letting go
Your body was so cold
Compared to me
I was burning up
And yet you stayed with me
The whole time
Saying that you didn't mean
To die
With a sigh of relief
I slowly drift into sleep
And tenderly you kiss my cheek
Once more
Whispering that you'll
Come back to me every night
I wake up
From feeling a loss
And my bed is empty
There's only me
Even though it was
A dream
I could still feel your kiss
On my cheek
And I could see your tears that
Fell on me
And I knew that you
Were here
Because you left
My favorite flower
On the desk next to me
In a list

this poem was wonderfully written, i could feel the emotions as i was reading it.

Loved it. Powerful, sorrowful, emotional...well-written. It leaves very little to be said except 'wow.' The words come across seeming so real. And I loved the ending, too. A great piece; well done!

I'm not sure exactly what inspired this, yet I can relate to it.. your style and honest feelings make it the type of poem that touches all readers in some way.. everyone probably has their own missing loved one on their mind...

This was powerful. Oh so powerful and yet it had tears falling down my face. Knowing our loved ones still watch out for us and our favorite flowers or candy can be found nearby after one of those "dreams" makes life seem just that much more amazing.
