She’s lost to herself
And the world she once knew
Life rhymes with hideous car wreck
That much she knows is true
If she could be all right she would
Smile at a butterfly
Wish upon a shooting star
But with the on coming twilight
She tries to follow the streetlights
To a happier place
She can never find
[Bridge]
Bruises and abrasions
On her skin of porcelain
Cuts and scars she hides
From the world of sunshine
[Chorus]
They call her for dinner
She hides away the blade
She makes up a reason
Invents a lie to say
She looks at her arms
There’s static in her head
She rolls down her sleeves
She should just leave instead
[Verse 2]
She walks a slow march
Through streets of orange stained black
Headlight eyes blink in the night
Flashes of red, green and amber
Blur her blue-eyed sight
Sirens wail, a gun goes off
Stereo music slams into her head
Downtown streets
Men leer wearing Rasta
And the heels of a lone woman rush quickly by
Inviting an avoidable disaster
[Bridge]
Bruises and abrasions
On her skin of porcelain
Cuts and scars she hides
From the world of sunshine
[Chorus]
They call her for dinner
She hides away the blade
She makes up a reason
Invents a lie to say
She looks at her arms
There’s static in her head
She rolls down her sleeves
She should just leave instead
[Verse Three]
Static lies and static love
Black disasters and happily never afters
This girl alone she’s run away
Life on the streets is the only way
She stands on a street corner
Supple thighs wrapped in nets
Needle tracked arms and a crack filled head
Eyeliner runs and smudged red lipstick
They don’t care what she’s like
All she’s good for is a quick fuck
And this is all a job to her
It’s just a quick buck
[Bridge]
Bruises and abrasions
On her skin of porcelain
Cuts and scars she hides
From the world of sunshine
[Chorus]
They used to call her for dinner
She’d hide away the blade
She’d make up a reason
Invent a lie
She’d look at her arms
With static in her head
She’d roll down her sleeves
And one day she just left instead
Just try to forget me as I walk away
As I walk away
Author notes
I was listening to 'A Breath of Sunshine' - Scary Kids Scaring Kids when i wrote this. Thats what basically enspired me to write 'Static'.
'Static' is basically about a girl who's so lost that she's blind to any help around her and to the point that she ends up alone and working as a prostitute on the streets. I suppose it paints an image of how a lot of teenagers end up.
It'd go under the Emo & Slow rock catagories.

This was a very beautiful piece. A lot of imagery and descriptive words, which add to this a lot. It was a little long, but still great in it's lengthy-ness.

Congratulations on gold - this piece definitely deserved it.

This weaves a good tale of how lost people can become and the warning signs are never heeded nor noticed.
Very well written.
Congrats on gold.

Although a long song it's very inspirational, I love the topic choice you used it was heartwrenching and that's what I liked about it, as you want to get the listeners attention when you have lyrics to a song. You are right, this is how a lot of teenagers and even woman still in their twenties and sometimes even onward. Lovely story though.
