On History and Hope

I am not afraid
Yes. I am.
I am terrified.

Too cool, too cool to be alive.
Rushes outside to cut the weeds,
returns, he tends the garden tenderly,
but nothing else.

always turning the yellowed page
with trembling hand. and never there as yet.
And quote from long ago:
Old Hero pushed his sunset back,
and gloat.
As if this were youth
and this is not.

Neferteri on the float,
gets off and looks at me,
sniffs the air,
with widgets strolling by.

I watch the severed head
rolling down the road
the road the road,
a slip of thigh and thong
or wrong. and going back instead of on.

and sometimes I'm afraid of me.

Christ, I'm nearly always afraid of me especially immediately after a moment of being so sure of myself - is that Poetry?

I have a secret diary .. but shhhh don't tell anyone. Helps me tremendously .. but you seem to do just fine writing Pomes.

Just flipping through the files ..

To be lost in your own madness, can only scare yourself.
What if you shared your confusion beyond pen, physically?
Maybe they'd be scared too.. or maybe they'd share the images that haunt them too.
Great piece... really liked the ending to this.
You might like "Amalgamations", similar in its intent

I like this peotry you write. You sound very lonely. Are you? Of course that is very personal so please don't feel a need to answer. I am going to take time now to read your other peices. Perhaps, to fear is normal... ~~~Val

    "I am not afraid
    Yes. I am.
    I am terrified....

..and sometimes I'm afraid of me." Start so neatly matched with the end, and a mirage of sights and sounds on the way through.
