To hold favour from another

Missing image
To hold favour from another
You lay hearts chords in a line
Sing lullabies so gentle
Yet never count your time
Hold hands of true before you
Grasp the feeling that you seek
Paint gentle pastel colours
On another’s softest cheek

Play music in your scriptures
For their hearts and minds to hear
Lay bare your deepest notions
Wishing they were sitting here
To see the marks that form with ease
Fall from eyes that well with tear
Yet all you ever wanted
Was to stay another year

But travel will their soul so free
To grazing grounds anew
See joy adorn their face with glee
As your heart turns shades of blue
But to seek fulfilment in your quest
You know what you must do
Step back in line put pen to rest
Knowing they’ll remember you.

Please tell me what you think

I am not sure I've ever 'held favor from another'... so I can't really relate to your words right now Mike but I know I love this piece because of the way it's written. It's a fine piece by any standards for sure.

You describe a one-ness that I used to want so badly... I followed, no chased, that dream so closely. I desired it so badly... craved it... hoped for it... but it never came and all my attempts at it were met by a concrete wall...

I was often left cold and alone... oh how I wish I could understand what you have written so wonderfully about... (man it's so easy to be real and honest on an internet site! The real 'me' dies out in the real world LOL)

This poem is amazing Mike... an enjoyable and lovely read. You've done an excellent job..

    the heart of poetry!

Someone told me recently that the reader never cares about the author of a poem, only the words, but you know Mike, that is not true, for I see a heart behind this poem that cares passionately for what YOU believe and which loves forthrightly. Only in kindred aspiratons do souls ever touch... and as I read, I am touched to the quick by the courage of your thoughts and the smiling eyes you leave for me among your other fans.

Remembered, you are, and loved in return! You "hold hands of true" before you, and they do not, can not return empty. May your heart chords always hold lullibies for your special one. Karen

This is so lovely, if we have a wish to be loved and it is returned then we really have no need to be anxious, for even without words, or seeing that person the love is held within forever, they already have you in their hearts. I can smile at your words and know they speak the truth. Love, C
