This velvet dress burns like trees,
And the lace is torn apart.
Her dress was once beautfiul, so vibrant.
But her ego made it drift away.
The pearls around her neck,
Keep their shape and beauty.
And even though they can forever stay,
Her body slowly withers away.
The shoes on her feet,
Melt away like the candles on a shelf.
Everything was burning down.
And her life as well.
Her ego has burned and taken over her mind and soul,
And has led her to unforgiving things.
If only she knew what she had done,
Maybe she wouldn't have lost everything.
Author notes
This is about how ego takes over the body and makes you all cocky and people don't like you anymore.
She lost everything because whats the point of living when you have no one?
Please tell me what you think

have you read "she's come undone" by wally lamb? this poem reminds me of it, because lamb explores the mental state of a woman and your poem sounds close to what he examines in the female protagonist
