Percussion fades
into the distance
and into the past.
Mortality's road
now ended for one.
A new path ahead,
as yet untrodden,
unknown horizons
to march beyond.
Faint yearning for
what was dim, the
veil drifting down
to shroud those painful
memories of seperation
making them only
bittersweet aches.
Duty calls and draws
the soldier on
honor bound to
complete this final
mission.
