When I went to that stone tower, with all those names carved into it...
I saw of all those men who died for our country, for a fight not of our own
I saw them give their heart and soul, but what the people saw as cruel and cold
I saw all the people only watching what they saw on the TV instead of hearing the stories of the very few braves
They only saw people dieing for no reason, but they did not see the great deeds
They were living for today and not tomorrow
So stoned out, expriementing with things that the causes were not known
Protesting for peace, love and not war
Truely the swinging 60s were the best
But those who suffured for our freedom was not that the best?
Again blinded by the media, we do not see the names on this riggied, old, stone tower...
Author notes
This is about all the people of the 60s, they watched the televtion and the war, but what they saw was only the bad, the civilans dieing.. so they came to resent the soilders of the Vietnam war...
Speical thanks to my history teacher for teaching the 60s so well. Not that I remember any of it, but you made it fun.

awesome. a great reminder to the heros who died to give us what we have today. there have been many times when i wish i had been born in the 60's, life seemed so much easier back then, or maybe they just hadnt learnt the ability to express their feelings like we do today? I don't know, I wasn't there!! All I can say I, I gotta get outta this place if it's the last thing I ever do! By the way I love 60's music, it rocks.

Well, I too wished I was born in the 60s, but it wasn't all cracked up as it seems. They used drugs that caused many problems that we today are still living with, and had lots of unprotected sex, which spread many sexal transmented diseases. I wish I was born in the 60s so I could of made a difference, become a real leader in the movement. And Yes the music was totally groovy!

Welcome to Memorial!
A very thoughtful entry, and true:
I saw all the people only watching what they saw on the TV instead of hearing the stories of the very few braves
They only saw people dieing for no reason, but they did not see the great deeds
They were living for today and not tomorrow
Yes, they forgot those who died in that war. Many I grew up with, whose names are inscribed on the Vietnam Memorial. A nice reflection of the feelings of the time. Thank you for your entry and good luck in the contest.
