[ laced with memories, this place i'm not yet ready to leave ]

laced with memories, this place i'm not yet ready to leave
every corner tells a story, every step tells a tale
looking out onto the snow, summer is long gone
and with it pulled everything familiar

white sprinkled over the fire pit
a place formerly of firsts
first rebellion, first revelation, first infatuation
my first summer love, what a gift and a burden
a place of long conversations, with summer friends almost new
of stories and music and analyzing lives
a place to greet each mornings dew

ice frozen over the water, the lake where i first learned to swim
iced over are memories of fun and of sun, and splashing away the days
of jet skis and fishing and laying around
water full of adventure, beginnings and falls
the like silently uncovers my stories
the lake tells all

frosty is the porch where i took my first sip
a daring taste that i learned to love
of growing up, maturity, and being cool
we would dance, play games, have too much fun
where we went to escape from the broiling sun
those long nights we spent when i let myself go
into his arms i placed my life, he helped me take charge

closed and darkened, is the basement where legends were created
where phenomenal realizations took place
where emotional progression was forced upon me
when we make life-changing decisions, and unprepared choices

he changed the way i look at myself
that last summer was nothing but amazing

as the snow flies outside, my head aches inside
with the memories encompassing my mind

how easily can i forget, and pretend we never met
how quickly can he go, thoughts of him lost in the snow
the snow that covers everything real
it blankets the place that furnishes my memories
gently covering the lawn

before i have a say, it's all ripped away
and everything i once knew is now gone.

Please tell me what you think
