or reason, this sanctuary
has barely caressed in what
remnants of the betiding
reveries
Searching, the means of perfection
acknowledged this figure called
imagination -- or rather, ensnaring
those wandering phrases; voices
are fondled just as birth
starts anew
Journeys by definition sought
more than another avenue upon
which to travel...
Rattles of wooden dancing
figurines stretched out-
in attempts to scribe
the sentences of which
they've now become
preservation and reality
outside the realm of life
itself
But for now, I'll sit
here underneath these
orchards and remain
absolutely silent
while the world converses
to these dexterous limbs
Author notes
HANDS DOWN KNOWING
First was made Universal air,
waters lapped lost, with no shore
or cheek to whisper on
then he pegged sun, moon, and stars
he gathered from heavens
to be bright eyes seeing
when he had no time
and then he brought up land
from deepest rich roiling sea
and birds and fishes and armies
of animals, he put in their place
two-legged as last thought
because his garden needed one more thing
All air was not absolute perfection,
no more than all waters, or stars,
or even land in its storm swept heights
and dry and grainy deserts
such it was with plants and his crawling,
swimming, flying, walking things
each had what might have seemed a flaw
to one another
two-leggeds decided what was wild
as they always have, yet forgot to look
to stream, to ditch, to gassy clouds,
to burn strips fending off another fire
and just when all was thought lost, by man,
Creator loosened new species
in unreachable depths of sea,
tucked a seed in ashen forest floor,
blew dust out of cracking sky
and struck with lightning fast hand,
cities, towns, scientists
who forgot, man’s hand is powerless
when Creator recreates.
