Warrior's Hymn

Blessed be the great I Am,
Who trains me for war
So that I may save my loved ones from evil's hand.

Blessed be my deliverer and my strength.
In Him who I rest my faith.
He prepares me to fight;
The evils take flight!
Who can contest God's might?

Blessed is the One who teaches me
To fight when need fight and flee when need flee!

Cast down Your arros! Scatter and route them,
My enemies which would defy You.
Send fogs and mist, a smokey flue.
The Lord, Yahweh, fight with me.

And I shal sing! A new hymn will come,
Issued forth by those that have seen
Your faithfulness; what You have done.

We, Your people, sing praises.
You show us mercy beyond understanding.
Even when we fall
Our spirits, Your love raises.
Only concern do I see in Your heart.
When I am pierced by the Enemy's dart.
Only love. I know
How you sheild me so.

By faith is how I win my battles.
By love is why I have this hope
That when these mortal shadows grow
I will not mope,
Because God will come down low
And He will show the way.

Blessed be His virtue and
Great is the Master of all
Who holds me tight in His hand.

Author notes

Dedicated to all the men and women of the armed services. May God bless you all and keep you safe in times of trouble. And may you go to war with my eternal gratitude.

And if I might add (noticing Edna Sweetloves comment) that your spelling is perfectly fine and I noted no errors, while Edna writes some of the most hideous things I have ever come across.

This is nice. I felt that the word "mope" stood out as being a little awkward, but the rest was very nice.

    Thanks for entering.

Your spelling is very interesting to say the least. It's odd that most people who favour religion and war tend to be quite illiterate. I wonder why that is?

    Wow

Not usually one for direct views on religion, like this says "The Lord, Yahweh, fight with me." but you managed to pull it off with grace and style. So I'll let it go. This is a top piece. Good luck.

This is a wonderful dedication you did for all the men and women in the armed services. It was deep and filled with some strong emotions. God would choose no war and I particularly liked these two lines,
"Blessed is the One who teaches me
To fight when need fight and flee when need flee!" They show that we don't wish to fight, but will make a stand if need be. Best of luck in the contest. seamaiden ♥

      Psalm 144

Read Psalm 144, and the rest of the Old Testament and then tell me that God would choose no war.

Anyway, it was written for my brother, as a prayer to keep him safe over seas.

I meant you no offense with my words. What I meant in that line was He would choose no war if given that option. It is a wonderful tribute and I will pray for your brother and all the others who are fighting in the wars that man can't seem to avoid. Keep writing poet. seamaiden ♥
